Here are some further details:
The printer uses 3mm filament PLA or ABS at a resolution of up to 100um (microns) per layer!
It has a heated bed so it can print ABS plastic without warping. PLA isn't a problem and prints well also.
The heated bed has a glass slide on top which can be covered with kapton tape (I'll provide) that provides a good starting surface for PLA or ABS prints.
It has a 200x200x200mm print volume and is expandable.
The hot end (extruder) has a 0.4mm nozzle that can achieve a 100 micron layer resolution in your final product!
This printer uses PrintrBoard as the electronics to control printing and can extrude a single material, but can create supporting material (removed later) in order to create hollow or otherwise structurally items.
PrintrBoard also has support for a second and possibly even third extruder. I currently have plans to offer an upgrade or upgraded kit do allow for dual or even triple extrusion for ~300-400 more.
I can demo for anyone interested.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
I can also design and create objects under commission.
I have a Bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University.
I've already printed for many research labs on campus and a few start up companies and can provide example parts.
